The first ammendment of the Constitution protects our rights and freedoms. Currently the "Occupy Wall Street" events happending all over the United States are creating controversy and much discussion. Look on the web, in papers, magazines, any place you find your new. Report out on one of the Occupy events around the U.S. Give your reactions. Would you participate in a rally? WHY OR WHY NOT?

Some excellent posts. Remember to proofread, posts should be atleast three sentences, and try to comment on one of your peers statements. Good thinking is going on here.

Occupy Wall Street is a movement that began on September 17,2011 has a protest over the belief that money has become the driving force behind much of the policy making in Washington. Powerful corporate lobbyists are often behind the political gridlock that is keeping Washington law makers from making large scale changes and they want it stopped. They also see social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and corruption as an influence over the government and the jobless rate. There slogan "we are the 99 percent" refers to the difference in wealth and income growth in the U.S. Between the wealthiest one percent and the rest of the population. Many "occupy" protest in other cities have sprung up to show solidarity with Occupy Wall Street. Occupy Denver is one of these protest. This began on September 24, 2011 and is taking place on various government sites throughout the city. Recently Occupy Denver protester were faced with tear gas and rubber bullets from police and were ordered to remove belongings from civic center parks. There have been many arrests made.

Although I think there needs to be something done about the financial situation in our country I don't think I would ever participate in one of these protest. I would be way to scared.

Too much money going into the pockets of those on Wall street. We are suffering. Protests occur, and the police are trying to tactfully uphold the law. Of course there is going to by controversy on the issue and the protests. Me personally? I honestly don't think I know enough about the economy and these issues to form a completely valid opinion. In general, I do believe that when the majority of American's are suffering, those in higher power should relinquish some of their money.
One of the protests happened at UC, where students protesting refused to get off of the private property. After showing the students and other protesters their pepper spray, the police proceeded to spray the students that refused to move. The fact that these protests are escalating so much frightens me, but also the fact that these protesters are not backing down makes me hopeful that something will come out of it. If one of these issues personally affected me, I believe I would protest as well.
